We welcome interns of all experience levels, as the purpose of this internship is to teach and inspire. A positive attitude and eagerness to learn will help you make the most of your time with us.
What You’ll Learn
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to observe clinical procedures and gain a deeper understanding of how a veterinary team functions day to day. Under the supervision of the veterinarian, interns will learn and assist with responsibilities that are essential to both patient care and hospital operations.
Responsibilities may include:
- Drawing up vaccines
- Observing surgical procedures
- Shadowing technicians and the veterinarian during routine exams
- Assisting technicians with minor treatments
- Learning proper animal handling and restraint techniques for vaccines, blood draws, and other procedures
- Supporting daily hospital operations, including laundry and organization
- Assisting technicians with pharmacy-related tasks
- Assisting with inventory management
- Learning how to assemble sterile surgical packs

Program Details & Scheduling
This is an unpaid, educational internship designed to provide clinical exposure.
- No experience is required.
- Open to high school students and older.
- Dress code: scrubs of any color and closed-toed shoes.
- Internship is structured into three terms per year, with each term spanning four months.
- Terms: January-April, May-August, September-December
- Interns may join at any time of the year; please note that if you join during an active term, shift availability may be limited.
- Interns may join for unlimited consecutive terms.
- Available shifts include:
- Monday through Friday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Shift selection is on a first-come, first-served basis. To provide the best learning experience, we allow only one intern per shift.
- Maximum of 3 shifts per week per term.
- Interns must commit to their selected shifts for the duration of the term.
- Switching shifts during an active term is not guaranteed.
- Shift selection for the subsequent term begins from the first of the last month of the preceding term. (Example: You may sign up for shifts for the May-August term beginning April 1st)
